Adjacent to the barn is a very large studio/meetings room with kitchenette and wheelchair accessible toilet. The studio also has an south facing patio/working area. There are widesweeping seaviews from the adjacent fields and the landscape resulting from the undelying geology and consequent quarrying industry are evocative and inspirational. The studio is not part of the holiday accommodation, however visitors to the barn can hire the studio for part or all of their stay for their own activities.

The studio will be used at certain times by other visitors to California Cottage and although every effort will be made to keep noise and activity to an acceptable level to those staying in the barn, residents of the barn should be aware that there could be other visitors to the studio during their stay. Many of the activities will be arts based and those staying in the barn will be able to participate in certain workshops or will have the opportunity to organise their own.

Arts and craft materials can be provided if necessary as can tutors, guided walks and visits to local artists studios and galleries. The area has a very diverse choice of landscapes. Throughout the year a number of workshops and events will be held in the studio and surrounding area. The programme for 2006 is currently being arranged. Contact Karen Delahay if you wish to arrange an activity holiday at the barn and require arts tuition, expert guidance on local wildlife, history/archaeology or access to alternative therapies or specific leisure activities (cycling, riding, fishing/boating, guided walks). The studio is ideal for a wide range of activities or just as a meetings room for corporate use
